Safeguarding

As followers of Jesus, we want to provide a safe environment in which people can thrive emotionally and spiritually, particularly children and adults with additional care and support needs. Staff and volunteers are trained and committed to working together to build an environment and culture that is safe. Appropriate checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service are made wherever appropriate. Every member of our Staff, and Kids’ and Youth teams, has an enhanced disclosure check.

Documenting a Concern

Under no circumstances should a volunteer or worker carry out their own investigation into an allegation or suspicion of abuse.
The worker or volunteer should make a report of the concern in the following way:

The above is nominated by the senior leaders and trustees to act on their behalf in dealing with the allegation or suspicion of neglect or abuse, including referring the matter on to the statutory authorities.

In the absence of the Safeguarding Lead or, if the suspicions in any way involve the Safeguarding Lead, then the report should be made to:

Alternatively, contact Social Services or the police.

The Safeguarding Co-ordinator should contact the appropriate agency or they may first ring the thirtyone:eight helpline for advice.
